Job summary

Transam Logistics in New Zealand is seeking a Planner & Dispatcher to lead the scheduling and coordination of transport activities for full and empty containers across New Zealand, ensuring optimal fleet utilisation and on-time service delivery.

You will be the key operational coordination point during the afternoon shift, coordinating container movements with customers, ports, shipping lines, transport providers and depots, while maintaining data integrity and compliance with company

Qualifications

• Approximately 3 years' experience in logistics, transport, dispatch or depot operations.
• Experience with transport planning or dispatch coordination.
• Experience with TMS/ContainerChain/VBS systems preferred.
• Experience working with drivers, depots, ports or shipping lines advantageous.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
• Strong organization, planning and multi-priority management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Calm and solution-focused under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Act as the key operational coordination point for Transam Transport and Container Depot activities during the afternoon shift.
• Coordinate movement of full and empty containers between customers, ports, shipping lines, transport providers and depots.
• Monitor operational activities and adjust transport movements in real time.
• Ensure bookings, job requests and instructions are acknowledged and actioned within timeframes.
• Coordinate with drivers and contractors to ensure safe, efficient, on-time delivery.
• Monitor truck movements, delays, cancellations, and other issues and take action.
• Provide clear instructions to drivers, depot teams and transport providers.
• Maintain data integrity for container movements booked through VBS.
