Advisor - Information Requests – Fixed Term – Flexible location

Fire and Emergency New Zealand – Wellington Central, North Island

Our team purpose is helping the organisation to do the right thing – kia tika.

This is a team that works closely together to meet our statutory obligations in tight timeframes. As an Advisor, you work with the rest of the team and our subject matter experts to respond to information requests. You will build relationships across the organisation, apply the Official Information Act and Privacy Act, draft letters, and provide support to the wider organisation.

As an Advisor, Information Requests you’ll manage a portfolio of Official Information Act and Privacy Act requests from start to finish. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and regional teams to navigate challenging issues and ensure responses are delivered within statutory timeframes. You’ll be someone who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, exercising sound judgement, and managing sensitive matters with professionalism and care.

This is a fixed-term or secondment position until 26 February 2027 (starting ASAP).

While our preference is for the successful candidate to be Wellington-based, we are open to considering candidates from elsewhere in New Zealand who bring the right skills and experience. We also welcome applications from current Fire and Emergency employees interested in a secondment.

To be successful in this role, we’d expect you will have:
  • (some) experience working with the OIA, Privacy Act, or in a similar regulatory/legislative environment

  • Ability to prepare clear, well‑reasoned written responses
  • A willingness to learn and develop capability in statutory decision‑making
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively

The salary range for this role is $85,150-$94,612 (pro-rata), dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
