Job Description
We have a great opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Commercial Manager this role is primarily responsible for the Joint Venture Midwest Disposal Services business, taking ownership of the accounts functions, particularly around invoicing, credit control, purchasing, month end processes and deadlines.
Key responsibilities
- Review and implement processes and procedures, including robust internal controls
- Ensure timely and accurate month end recording and reporting, including standardization improvements
- Data manipulation from customers’ and weighbridge data to complete invoicing
- Deal with customer queries, credit control and debt collection when required
- Recording of transactions, including purchase order raising, accounts payable and supplier liaison
- Bank account transaction processing and investigation
- General Office Management tasks as required
- Assist with Joint Venture external reporting, audit assistance, and annual tasks
- Support Operations Managers, Commercial and Finance Managers
- Working in a team of two, cross functional job knowledge and learning is key
Qualifications
What you’ll need
- A minimum of five years’ work experience, ideally in a large complex organization with tight month end deadlines.
- Strong excel and analysis skills
- Ability to collate and analyse data from multiple sources and systems
- Excellent time management and commercial skills
- Good communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to communicate accounting issues to non-accountants
- Team player but equally comfortable working autonomously
- Knowledge of the construction, logistics, or waste industries would be an advantage
- Interest in learning new systems and processes
