Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Accountant - Put your financial expertise to work where it makes a difference.

Farrow Jamieson is partnering with an established Auckland-based, Christian organisation whose work is grounded in faith and a strong commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

There is a genuine sense of purpose behind the organisation and the way it operates. Stewardship, service, compassion and community are important to the culture, and finance plays a key role in ensuring resources are used thoughtfully and responsibly.

The team is close-knit, practical and busy, with supportive leadership, genuine flexibility and people who care about both the quality of their work and the wider impact it enables.

About the Role
A broad Senior Accountant role with a strong management accounting and business partnering focus. Reporting to the COO, you will work across the organisation to bring clarity to financial information, strengthen planning and help managers make well-informed decisions.

The scope goes well beyond a narrow month-end role. You will move between financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit coordination, analysis and process improvement. It will suit someone who enjoys variety, likes being close to the business and is comfortable getting into the detail when needed.

Duties

  • Own budgeting, forecasting and regular reforecasting across the organisation.
  • Deliver accurate monthly and annual reporting, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Prepare annual financial accounts, GST returns and key reconciliations.
  • Coordinate audit requirements and work confidently with external advisers.
  • Oversee payroll and support core accounts receivable and payable processes.
  • Partner with managers to improve financial understanding, planning and resource allocation.
  • Contribute to project and funding-related financial planning and business cases.
  • Help strengthen finance systems, policies, processes and ways of working.
Skills & Experience
You will be a capable accountant who brings both technical strength and the confidence to work with people outside finance. Not-for-profit experience is useful, but it is not essential; a broad commercial accounting background can work equally well.
  • At least four years of post-graduate accounting experience in New Zealand.
  • CA qualified, or well progressed towards completing your qualification.
  • Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting experience.
  • Sound financial accounting knowledge, including GST, audit and reconciliations.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems.
  • Proven ability to partner with managers and explain finance in plain language.
  • A practical, adaptable style and an interest in improving how things are done.
Culture
This is a genuinely faith-led workplace. Service, integrity, thoughtful stewardship and a sense of community matter here, and people are encouraged to bring both capability and care to their work.

You will suit the environment if you enjoy collaborating, are willing to contribute beyond a narrow job description and like the idea of using your finance skills in an organisation with a strong sense of purpose. It is a busy role, so you will also need to be comfortable juggling priorities and taking ownership.

Benefits

  • Salary up to $110,000.
  • Genuine hybrid working flexibility for part of the week.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Medical insurance.
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and a broad view of the organisation.
  • The opportunity to shape processes and grow with the role over time.
  • Inspiring weekly team devotions for spritual growth.
