Job summary

Aon in New Zealand is seeking an Account Manager to develop and grow a diverse client portfolio in the construction, property, and renewables sectors. You will build strong relationships with clients, underwriters, and stakeholders to create value and drive retention.

You will apply your broking expertise to tailor insurance programmes, identify opportunities for growth, and support the Power and Renewables team across infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Experience in insurance broking and managing client portfolios.
  • Knowledge of construction, property, infrastructure, power or renewables sectors is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Managing client servicing requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities for growth within existing clients and new business.
  • Providing professional, accurate responses to client needs through liaising with external stakeholders.
  • Preparing proposals for new business opportunities.
  • Coordinating client renewals and preparing premium calculations.
  • Supporting growth of the Power and Renewables portfolio across construction and property risks.
  • Developing market relationships and technical expertise across construction, property, infrastructure, power and renewables sectors.
  • Assisting in design and placement of insurance programmes for complex risks.

About the Role

Join a team where relationships, expertise, and innovation drive success. As an Account Manager, you will be entrusted with developing and growing a diverse client portfolio, identifying new business opportunities, and strengthening strategic partnerships.

You'll have the opportunity to work alongside one of New Zealand's leading Construction, Property, Power and Renewables teams, supporting some of the country's most significant infrastructure and energy clients. Bringing your technical broking expertise, you'll collaborate with clients, underwriters, and Aon stakeholders to develop tailored strategies that create value, drive retention, and support long-term success.

This role will play a key part in supporting the growth of Aon's Power and Renewables business, with a primary focus on construction and property-related risks across the sector.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing client servicing requirements
  • Identifying opportunities for growth both within your existing client base and new business
  • Providing professional, accurate and efficient responses to client needs through liaison with external stakeholders!
  • Preparing proposals for new business opportunities
  • Coordinating client renewals and preparing premium calculations
  • Supporting the growth and development of Aon's Power and Renewables portfolio, with a focus on construction and property risks.
  • Developing strong market relationships and technical expertise across the construction, property, infrastructure, power and renewables sectors.
  • Assisting in the design and placement of insurance programmes for complex construction and operational risks.
Skills and experience that will lead to success

You will have proven experience in insurance broking and managing your portfolio, not only that but you will have the ability to deliver high quality client services and have exceptional communication skills. Experience in construction, property, infrastructure, power or renewable energy risks would be highly regarded, along with an understanding of the unique insurance requirements of these sectors.

A few other key requirement will be:
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • L5 Fire and General Qualification!
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
