Job description

Blue Ocean Aquatics is on the lookout for dynamic individuals who are ready to dive into the role of a Travel Swim Instructor for the upcoming summer season. This position offers the unique opportunity to combine your love for swimming and teaching, all while enjoying a flexible schedule tailored around your availability. Travel Swim Instructors are responsible for delivering quality swim lessons to participants in their own home. Instructors will travel to different residences throughout the day. You will be responsible for making your own schedule, however, you must commit to that schedule for the summer.

Dates: Early May- Labor Day

Schedule: You make your own schedule!

Experience: At least 1 year of teaching swimming lessons to children from six months to adult in both a group and private setting

Pay: $40-50/hr, depending upon experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct swimming lessons for individuals of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Develop customized lesson plans to meet the specific needs and goals of each student, adapting teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
• Monitor students' progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement to boost their confidence and swimming capabilities.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, adhering to the highest standards of water safety and emergency response procedures.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with students, parents, and guardians regarding scheduling, progress updates, and any other relevant information.
• Implement and teach private, semi-private, and group swimming lessons to participants ranging from six months to adult.
• Ability to follow the American Red Cross curriculum.

Requirements:

• 16+ years of age.
• Must hold a valid certification in one of the following: Lifeguarding/CPR/AED/First Aid or Water Safety Instructor. Preference will be given to those who are certified WSI certified.
• Must attend preseason orientation.
• Must commit to the same schedule throughout the summer.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be reliable, responsible, and ready to work on a daily basis.
