Job description

One of four core business areas in the company, the Marketing Midstream and Processing (MMP) organization is responsible for providing flow assurance to Equinor’s equity production, maximizing the value creation from this equity and Equinor’s mid and downstream assets and using this asset base to create significant value through commodity trading. Based on a strong track record Equinor has a strategically anchored an ambitious growth plan for its commodity trading business, building out both physical and financial trading.

Trading is organized into two units Crude Products and Liquids (“CPL”) and Gas and Power (G&P). CPL is responsible for crude, condensates and all liquid product across the barrel from LPG to Residue. Within the CPL organization we are currently looking to make selective hires into a number of key roles to deliver on our growth plans, including that of Traders (varied seniority depending on candidate experience) and Trade desk analysts, supporting the global crude, products and gas liquids trading teams. Equinor’s liquids trading teams operates on a global basis with offices in Houston, Stamford, London, Stavanger and Singapore, handling close to 2mn barrels per day of physical crude oil (equity and 3rd party), 0,5mn bbls of products and 10 mill mt/yr of natural gas liquids (NGLs). The same trading desks also have material derivatives trading activity.

The successful candidates will join a Stavanger trading desk, where the role will work with the rest of the trading desk in Stavanger, but will also work closely with traders in the other locations. The role will predominantly be linked to physical and or derivative trading.

What will my tasks be?

Within this position, your key tasks will be to:

Be involved in both physical – and derivatives trading within our global trading activity.

Contribute to develop- and implement trading strategies.

View based position taking, both in physical and derivatives.

Closely interact with other Equinor trading desks, origination, market analysis, operation, shipping, refineries and risk.

Provide external orientation towards financial institutions, Oil companies, refineries, trading houses and brokers.

Take an active role in driving and implementing new digital systems in our trading business.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant field (e.g. chemical engineering, finance, math, etc.) Relevant experience may compensate for formal qualifications.

Experience from trading, operations, analysis, risk and/or other relevant qualifications would be an advantage.

Commercial attitude, within depth knowledge of price exposure, risk profile and risk/reward balance, oil trading instruments, and experience from commercial negotiations.

Good knowledge and experience from risk management and use of trade capture/monitoring systems.

Ability to establish trading and marketing contacts in the industry through networking, preferably with an existing network in place.

Demonstrated solid performance record and strong work ethics.

Must be based in Stavanger or willing to relocate.
