Job summary

MacGregor in Kristiansand, Norway is seeking a Technical Support Control System specialist to handle offshore requests with a focus on control systems, PLC programming, and E&I drawings.

You will coordinate with regional customers, sales, operations, and service project teams, provide remote troubleshooting, document updates, and support training; the role sits in the Global Services Division, Americas & North Sea region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in science or engineering, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of proven track record in relevant service business and products
• Hands-on technical proficiency with Step 7, TIA Portal, Aveva Wonderware, Beijer, E3, and AutoCAD.
• Strong technical knowledge of control systems, PLC programming, and E&I drawings
• Experience with remote troubleshooting and technical documentation support.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Handle internal and external technical requests arising in offshore operations worldwide, focusing on control systems and PLC programming
• Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support for customers and Offshore Service teams, including 24/7 OnWatch coverage
• Support service projects with engineering, PLC programming, E&I design, control system upgrades, and finding technical solutions
• Update ERP, drawing, and document systems according to company standards, and record corrective actions for lessons learned
• Collaborate with regional customers, sales, operations, and service project teams, and coordinate with New Building for feedback and handover
• Create training documentation and participate in training as required

We are looking for a Technical Support Control System to join our Global Services Division team in the Americas & North Sea region.

In this role, you will be responsible for handling internal and external technical requests that arise in offshore operations globally, with a primary focus on control systems, PLC programming, E&I drawings, and service projects.

Furthermore, you will serve as a vital link between regional customers, sales, operations, and service project teams, while collaborating closely with New Building (NB) for feedback and handover.

More tasks and responsibilities

• Support service projects with engineering, PLC programming, E&I design, control system upgrades, and finding technical solutions for customers
• Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support for customers and Offshore Service teams, including participating in 24/7 OnWatch coverage
• Support spare sales by setting up PCs and PLCs, and generating or updating recommended spares lists
• Support the technical documentation team by creating technical instructions, bulletins, and managing technical information to and from suppliers
• Support the creation of training documentation and perform or participate in training as required
• Update ERP, drawing, and document systems according to company standards, maintain status reporting on identified issues, and record corrective actions for lessons learned

Reporting directly to the Manager, Technical Support Offshore Crane & Renewables, located in Norway. The position will be based in MacGregor's office in Kristiansand, Norway.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, it is essential that you possess excellent communication skills, commercial interest, and the ability to work independently to complete assigned assignments and projects.

We are seeking an innovative professional who can influence and negotiate with key internal and external stakeholders, lead and supervise projects, and continuously improve current processes and ways of working.

Ideally you have:

• Higher education at the Bachelor or Master level, preferably in science or engineering (or comparable degree / equal experience)
• 5+ years of proven track record in relevant service business and products
• Hands-on technical proficiency with Step 7, TIA Portal, Aveva Wonderware, Beijer, E3, and AutoCAD.
• Strong technical knowledge of control systems, PLC programming, and E&I drawings
• Experience with remote troubleshooting and technical documentation support.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
