Job summary

ABB is seeking a System & Technical Support Engineer to support marine systems onboard vessels worldwide, troubleshoot via RDS, and lead retrofit projects. The role offers diverse opportunities to contribute to modernizations and to work across global teams in a dynamic marine environment.

You will collaborate with R&D, perform on-site visits, and support customers remotely as needed, while traveling internationally. Fluency in English and Norwegian is required.

Qualifications

• BSc or technical college degree required.
• Experience with marine drive systems preferred.
• Fluent in English and Norwegian (spoken and written).
• Willingness to travel internationally.
• Knowledge of shipboard systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical advisor and support role for Marine systems.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting via ABB’s Remote Diagnostic System (RDS).
• Lead or participate in upgrades and retrofit projects as assigned.
• Provide internal technical support within ABB Marine and contribute to product improvements.
• Conduct sporadic field service tasks globally and support R&D on future solutions.

About The Role

As a System and Technical Support Engineer, you will support ABB systems onboard vessels worldwide, act as lead or project engineer for modernization, retrofit projects, sporadic on-call service jobs in ABB Marine Service. You’ll troubleshoot using ABB’s Remote Diagnostic System (RDS), assist customers via various channels, and provide technical advisory both externally and within ABB.

Responsibilities

• Technical advisor and support role for ABB delivered systems for Marine
• Advanced troubleshooting via ABB’s Remote Diagnostic System (RDS)
• Participate in upgrades and retrofit projects – lead engineer for retrofit projects depending on role
• Further develop, maintain and analyze existing functionalities and solutions for Marine MV power application
• Assist customers via phone, email, remote access, and on-site visits
• Provide internal technical support within ABB Marine
• Contribute to product and service improvements
• Collaborating with R&D on future solutions
• Conduct sporadic field service tasks globally

Requirements

• BSc or Technical College education
• Experience with drive systems (marine sector preferred)
• Fluent in English and Norwegian (spoken and written)
• Willingness to travel internationally
• Knowledge of shipboard systems is a plus
