Job summary

Nexans is seeking a Geographical Information System (GIS) Engineer for the Marine Installation/Marine Engineering function in Oslo, Norway (SLS Norway). You will manage GIS work across projects, coordinating with survey, marine, operations, and client teams to ensure accurate data and compliant routines.

You will own GIS scope, publish data for other disciplines, and support reporting and documentation while upholding Nexans’ safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

Experience with GIS tools and data management, ideally in marine, offshore, energy or infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with survey data, route definition and marine operations is a strong advantage.
Ability to work closely with engineers, operations teams and suppliers to translate project needs into robust GIS solutions.

Responsibilities

Set up the GIS project and ensure a robust structure for all spatial data.
Import, process and transform survey data into the GIS system per project requirements.
Support the survey engineer on data formats and specifications for additional surveys.
Take responsibility for issuing cable route coordinates and Route Position Lists (RPL).
Publish geographical data so it is available, accurate and up to date for other disciplines and external users.
Support the project with GIS-based reporting.
