Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Software Engineer – Storage for a partner company based in Norway. You will help build a high‑performance, open‑source storage platform across the stack, from client tooling to storage servers and edge infrastructure.

You will work asynchronously with a globally distributed team to improve APIs, observability, and storage workflows while contributing to open-source projects used by millions of users.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience including operating Node.js in production.
• Experience designing, building, or operating highly scalable distributed systems.
• Comfort across backend development and infrastructure deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Experience with performance tuning, production troubleshooting, and reliability of distributed services.
• Strong PostgreSQL production experience including tuning and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated ownership mindset to drive projects end to end.
• Appreciation for developer experience and reliable tooling.

Responsibilities

• Enhance storage capabilities and support open formats for analytical data.
• Develop asset optimization features to speed delivery for web and mobile apps.
• Expand edge infrastructure to accelerate uploads and enable cache invalidation.
• Improve storage server performance through monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Build storage exploration tools with frontend collaboration for a fast UX.
• Improve APIs, client libraries, and CLI tools for a seamless workflow.
• Improve upload/download reliability across clients and environments.
• Contribute to open source storage components and upstream dependencies.
• Resolve escalated issues and implement systemic improvements.
• Contribute to backend, deployment, monitoring, and service operations.
• Own engineering initiatives from problem definition to delivery.
