Job summary

University of Utah Health seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to sterilize instruments and manage inventory for the OR and clinics. You will assemble trays, deliver supplies, and ensure equipment functions properly while adhering to safety and infection control standards.

The role requires leadership in scheduling, training, and quality improvement activities, along with SME-level knowledge of sterilization methods and instrumentation. Evening and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Three years of sterile processing experience.
• Certification options: CIS/CER/CHL from HSPA.
• Alternatively, CFER/CSIS/CSPM from CBSPD.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and sterilize instruments per procedures.
• Assemble trays and case carts.
• Deliver sterilized supplies and retrieve used items.
• Inspect equipment and replenish items.
• Document charges for supplies and trays.
• Restock labels and manage inventory.
• Verify equipment function and arrange repairs.
• Sort instrument sets for processing customers.
• Support quality improvement, safety and infection control.
• Coordinate daily activities and training.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement.
• Serve as SME in sterilization methods.
• Troubleshoot OR instrumentation needs.
• Operate sterile processing database programs.
• May order supplies.
