Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in physics, atmospheric science, engineering or another relevant field.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming language Python; additional languages are a plus.
  • The ability to independently carry out a scientific data analysis, including scientific report writing, using data collected by LiDAR and scientific RADAR remote sensing, in-situ measurements and Earth Observation Satellites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Norwegian and English, with the ability to report to funding agencies and present scientific results at scientific conferences and to the general public.
  • Experience with research funding applications, for example to the Research Council of Norway, EU, ESA and other funding bodies.
  • Experience in preparing technical reports and project deliverables.
  • Valid Class B driving licence with manual transmission, and the ability to safely drive to ALOMAR under challenging winter conditions.
  • The workplace is located on top of Ramnan mountain, and the position may occasionally require walking to or from the observatory in challenging weather conditions.
