Job summary

Andøya Space invites an Engineer to join the ALOMAR Observatory's Ground-Based Instrumentation team in Norway. You will operate and maintain LiDAR, radar, and related instruments, supporting researchers and ensuring data quality.

The role involves data processing, reporting, and contributing to research funding applications, with duty shifts and winter travel to the observatory as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in physics, atmospheric science, engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Ability to perform scientific data analysis and report writing.
• Strong written and verbal communication in Norwegian and English.
• Experience with research funding applications.
• Valid Class B driving licence; able to drive to ALOMAR in winter.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain LiDAR, radar and other scientific instrumentation.
• Provide technical support to researchers and internal teams.
• Perform quality assurance and post-processing of measurement data.
• Analyze cal/val data from Earth observation satellites.
• Prepare scientific/technical reports and funding applications.
• Participate in R&D projects and dissemination activities.
• Contribute to courses and guided tours at ALOMAR.
• Prepare research/infrastructure funding applications to funding bodies.
