General Description Of Work

The Senior Services Department is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Senior Center Nutrition Assistant. This role involves performing intermediate semiskilled work in support of the senior meal programs, including monitoring participants and program statistics, assisting with event setup and teardown, presenting program information, planning and facilitating programs, providing volunteer training, and preparing required reports. The Nutrition Assistant helps ensure that the daily menu plan is followed correctly and that all kitchen responsibilities are met to deliver complete meals in compliance with Federal and State standards. Duties also include taking and recording food temperatures, packing Home Delivered Meals, serving the congregate noon meal, and assisting kitchen staff with cleaning, mopping, wiping, food delivery, returning food caddies, training staff, and supporting bank deposit procedures. The position also provides assistance with general Senior Center functions as needed. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Nutrition Program Director.

Education And Experience

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and have moderate experience in senior center or recreation programming, nutrition management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

A valid North Carolina driver’s license is required. Upon hire and on an ongoing basis, the employee must complete all necessary training, including Serve Safe Nutrition Certification, Defensive Driving, CPR, First Aid, and AED training.

Pre-employment Drug Testing Is Required.
