Job summary

Sperton Norway is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer for a client in the banking sector in Oslo. You will help build and improve a shared web platform used by different engineering teams, covering frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, and developer tools.

The role involves designing scalable APIs, databases, caches, queues, and cloud solutions, creating reusable tools, and enhancing CI/CD, automation, testing, deployment, and monitoring. Mentoring other engineers is also part of the job.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience as a Software Engineer or Platform Engineer.
• Strong experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Experience building and running large production systems.
• Good knowledge of APIs, authentication, caching, performance, debugging, and observability.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or another cloud platform.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience building shared platforms, developer tools, or libraries.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve shared web-platform services.
• Design scalable APIs, databases, caches, queues, and cloud solutions.
• Create reusable tools and libraries for other engineering teams.
• Improve CI/CD, automation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Work with engineers and architects on technical solutions.
• Take ownership from technical design to production.
• Support and mentor other engineers.
