Job summary

Sperton Norway is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer for a client in the banking sector. You will help build and improve a shared web platform used by different engineering teams, covering frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, and developer tools.

Responsibilities include designing scalable APIs, improving CI/CD, and mentoring other engineers. A degree or equivalent experience is expected; strong English skills are essential, and the role is onsite in Oslo, Norway.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience as a Software Engineer or Platform Engineer.
• Strong experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Experience building and running large production systems.
• Good knowledge of APIs, authentication, caching, performance, debugging, and observability.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or another cloud platform.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience building shared platforms, developer tools, or libraries.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve shared web-platform services.
• Design scalable APIs, databases, caches, queues, and cloud solutions.
• Create reusable tools and libraries for other engineering teams.
• Improve CI/CD, automation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Work with engineers and architects on technical solutions.
• Take ownership from technical design to production.
• Support and mentor other engineers.
