Lead the engineering organisation behind one of Norway’s most trusted clinical platforms — and shape how technology serves clinicians and patients at scale. CheckWare builds the digital platform that Norway’s largest healthcare providers depend on: digital assessments, patient‑reported outcomes, and treatment follow‑up. Real clinical workflows. Strict uptime requirements. Real impact — every day. We’re looking for a Senior Manager to lead an organisation of Developers, QA, DevOps, Architects, and a Product Owner distributed across Norway, Poland, and India, headquartered in Trondheim. Your direct reports cover all key disciplines bringing expertise and team spirit. You’ll be a part of the management group alongside Product, Professional Services, and Sales. You set the direction for how the organisation builds and operates, and get into the details when a project, incident, or a person needs it.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop an engineering organisation across three countries — building a culture of accountability, craft, and continuous improvement.
- Own delivery across CheckWare’s product portfolio, balancing roadmap commitments, technical improvements, compliance work, and operational stability.
- Partner closely with Product Management to translate real user needs – clinicians and patients – into a realistic, well‑prioritised backlog.
- Ensure sound architectural principles across the organisation, with a clear view of components, responsibilities, interfaces, and system interactions.
- Own DevOps and platform reliability: monitoring, incident response, and infrastructure capacity planning.
- Lead distributed team dynamics – hiring, onboarding, performance management, and retention across Norway, Poland, and India.
- Drive structured adoption of modern engineering practices, including AI‑assisted development tooling, across the team.
- Act as a credible technical voice with Professional Services and Sales – supporting pre‑sales conversations and customer escalations when management‑level involvement is needed.
- Embed security and compliance into how the team designs, builds, and operates – not as an afterthought, but as a core engineering discipline.
- Contribute to resourcing, budgeting, and organisational planning as a full member of CheckWare’s leadership team.
Qualifications
Must‑have
- Solid track record leading engineering teams across multiple disciplines – development, DevOps, QA, and architecture.
- Experience managing distributed and international teams across time zones and cultures.
- A technical background – credible in architecture discussions, comfortable with solution design, sequence diagrams, database models, and integration patterns.
- Experience working closely with Product Management in an agile delivery environment.
- Experience operating in a regulated environment – healthcare, GDPR, ISO 27001, or equivalent – with a genuine instinct for building compliance and information security into the work.
- Comfortable holding both people leadership and operational/technical accountability simultaneously.
- Fluent in English.
Nice to have
- Architectural familiarity with modern web stacks – Vue.js, PHP/Symfony, Java/Spring Boot, Kubernetes, HL7.
- Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or another high‑stakes technology domain.
- Norwegian language skills.
Benefits
- Real ownership – you lead an entire engineering function across three countries with management‑group accountability from day one.
- Meaningful impact – the software your team builds is used by doctors and patients every single day, directly affecting healthcare outcomes.
- Modern engineering – shape how AI‑assisted development, cloud‑native practices, and structured engineering disciplines land and scale across the organisation.
- Nordic values in practice – flat structure, high trust, high standards, direct communication, no politics, and genuine collaboration.
- Trondheim‑based with flexibility for an international team.
