Job summary

VARD Design & Engineering is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our team in Norway. The role focuses on designing machinery and ship systems, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and delivering innovative vessel designs across markets.

You will collaborate with the Machinery team and clients to ensure compliant, high-quality solutions while contributing to continuous improvement and best practices within the design department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master level in naval architecture, ship design, mechanical engineering or related field.
• Experience in ship design, shipbuilding or marine engineering.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar engineering tools.
• Knowledge of maritime regulations and industry standards.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.

Duties and responsibilities

Join us and play an important role in the development of advanced machinery and ship systems for some of the world's most innovative vessels. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Machinery team in VARD Design & Engineering, as well as with multidisciplinary teams across the organization, to design and deliver the ships of tomorrow.

In this role, you will work with the design, integration, and development of machinery and ship systems for some of the world's most advanced vessels. You will:

Design machinery and ship systems in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and operational needs

Integrate equipment and systems to ensure seamless functionality and performance

Collaborate across disciplines and engage with clients and suppliers throughout the design process

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of department processes and tools

Coordinate and support project execution to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely delivery

Qualifications

BSc or MSc in Naval Architecture, Ship Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

Solid experience in ship design, shipbuilding, or marine engineering

Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar engineering tools

Knowledge of relevant maritime regulations, classification rules, and industry standards

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
