Job description

Do you dream in 3D, and want to use your Inventor and/or AVEVA E3Dskills into designing complex offshore systems?

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to develop mechanical systems and structural steel constructions for offshore applications. This position is critical in ensuring the technical integrity and performance of our equipment across both project execution and early-phase studies. You will work on machines, components, and supporting structures, contributing to the full engineering lifecycle.

This is a senior-level role, where you will act as a subject matter expert, mentoring junior engineers, proposing technical improvements, and upholding high standards for quality and innovation. The position offers a high degree of responsibility and influence in solving complex engineering challenges in a multidisciplinary environment.

You will join the design department with 17 skilled engineers and report directly to the Manager, Design. The team is based in Arendal and works closely across functions to support projects from early feasibility to final product.

  • Exposure to diverse offshore engineering projects from concept through execution
  • A culture that encourages innovation, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Involvement in the design and delivery of systems for complex offshore environments

Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical and structural steel systems for offshore equipment
  • Develop and detail 2D engineering drawings, specifying dimensions, tolerances, fasteners, hoses, and fittings
  • Work closely with other engineers in a multidisciplinary environment to integrate mechanical and structural elements
  • Take ownership of specific design modules and deliverables across projects
  • Act as a resource for colleagues, sharing your technical knowledge and guiding less experienced team members
  • Identify opportunities for design optimization and innovation
  • Support both execution-phase projects and early-stage concept or feasibility studies

Qualifications & Skills:
Essential Qualifications:

  • BSc or MSc in Engineering. Relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical and/or structural steel design
  • Strong experience with Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling and 2D drafting
  • Proven experience using E3D (AVEVA) tools for mechanical or structural design applications
  • Practical understanding of how to integrate E3D and AVEVA with multidisciplinary engineering workflows
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

Desired Qualifications:
