Job summary

Zaptec AS is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer to ensure quality, reliability and performance of our EV charging products before they reach customers. You will collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to plan, execute and continuously improve testing throughout development.

You will validate designs, uncover weaknesses and help shape testing strategies, developing new methods and running automated tests to keep our products robust and reliable for customers.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of electronics and laboratory practices.
• Soldering experience and basic lab work.
• Experience with hardware testing, verification or validation is an advantage.
• Basic programming knowledge (Python, C or similar).
• Experience with automated testing is an advantage.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Professional proficiency in English; Norwegian is a plus.

Hardware Test Engineer

As our new Hardware Test Engineer, you'll help ensure the quality, reliability and performance of Zaptec's products before they reach our customers.

Working closely with colleagues across hardware and firmware development, you'll plan, execute and continuously improve testing throughout the product development process. From validating new designs to pushing products to their limits, you'll uncover weaknesses, solve technical challenges and help shape how we test our hardware.

No two days are exactly alike, but your work will typically include:

• Plan and execute test activities for new and existing hardware products.
• Configure and run automated tests for both long-term reliability and product releases.
• Work closely with hardware and firmware engineers to investigate issues and improve product quality.
• Analyse test results and identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute to verification and validation strategies and help define how we test future products.
• Develop new test methods and improve our existing test setup.
• Support continuous improvements that make our products even more robust and reliable.

You enjoy figuring out how things work and why they sometimes don't. Whether you're investigating an unexpected test result, improving a test setup or validating a new design, you're motivated by solving technical challenges and helping build reliable, high-quality products.

You're equally comfortable working hands-on in the lab as you are analysing test results, and you enjoy collaborating with engineers from different disciplines to find the best solutions.

As for the skills required for this job

• A relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree, a certificate of apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Norwegian is a plus.
