Job summary

Landmark, a Halliburton company, is building a permanent Oslo-based engineering organization to own the platform. This founding technical role defines inner-loop standards and implements automated tooling for AI-assisted development across repositories.

You will establish how the inner loop works for engineers today and for the AI agents wired into the workflow, shaping the team's future.

Responsibilities

• Establish the technical standards for a healthy Landmark repository, including local build, test, and lint expectations; deterministic environment setup; documentation requirements; and machine-readable conventions for use by both engineers and AI agents.
• Design and operate an automated audit that measures every internal repository against these standards. Publish scorecards and drive follow-through with repository owners.
• Lead remediation of pilot repositories, creating reference implementations for others to adopt.
• Own the specification and rollout of the agent-facing conventions layer across the organization, including template, review process, and rollout plan.
• Integrate internal tooling with platforms used by engineering (SCM, chat, issue tracking, feature management) including Model Context Protocol integrations.
• Partner with DevOps and Platform Engineering to ensure inner-loop tooling aligns with outer-loop platform (CI/CD, deployment, observability).
• Represent Developer Experience in cross-functional discussions on architectural standards, tooling decisions, and hiring for the growing team.

Landmark, a Halliburton company, builds the software and data platforms that help the global energy industry make better decisions. Our products span subsurface interpretation, well construction planning, reservoir simulation, and digital operations — tools used daily by engineers and scientists at the world’s largest energy companies. We are investing significantly in our engineering capability in Oslo, and these roles are part of building a permanent, locally‑owned engineering organization to take long‑term ownership of the platform.

The role is directly tied to an executive‑approved initiative. The Developer Experience strategy for Landmark was presented and endorsed at the executive level, including a defined set of foundations, a measurement plan, and a rollout schedule. Execution of that strategy is contingent on staffing the Developer Experience team.

The organization’s plan to integrate AI‑assisted development on a scale depends on repositories being in a state where automated tooling and AI agents can operate reliably. Without a dedicated owner establishing and enforcing that baseline, AI investment produces diminishing returns. This role is the mechanism by which those returns are protected.

You will define what a great inner loop looks like at Landmark and make it real across our repositories for the engineers who work here today, and for the AI agents we are wiring into the workflow.

About the team

The Developer Experience team owns the tools, standards, and workflows that determine how quickly and reliably software is delivered at Landmark. The team is newly established and operates with executive sponsorship. This is a founding technical role, responsible for defining and implementing the inner-loop standards that the rest of the engineering organization will adopt.

Responsibilities

• Establish the technical standards for a healthy Landmark repository, including local build, test, and lint expectations; deterministic environment setup; documentation requirements; and machine-readable conventions for use by both engineers and AI agents.
• Design and operate an automated audit that measures every internal repository against these standards. Publish scorecards on a defined cadence and drive follow-through with repository owners.
• Lead the remediation of pilot repositories, working directly in the code to bring them into compliance with the standards. Establish reference implementations that other teams can adopt.
• Own the specification and rollout of the agent-facing conventions layer across the organization, including the template, review process, and rollout plan.
• Integrate internal tooling with the platforms used by engineering — source control, chat, issue tracking, feature management — including Model Context Protocol integrations where applicable.
• Partner with the DevOps and Platform Engineering functions to ensure inner-loop tooling aligns with the outer-loop platform (CI/CD, deployment, observability) without duplication of ownership.
• Represent Developer Experience in cross-functional discussions on architectural standards, tooling decisions, and hiring for the growing team.

Required Experience

• Strong background in Agentic AI, AI Tooling and RAG
• Significant industry experience as a software engineer, including a demonstrable track record of hands‑on technical contribution at senior or staff level.
• Deep expertise in software build systems, test infrastructure, and local development environments across multiple languages and frameworks.
• Practical experience with modern AI‑assisted development workflows, including agentic development tools and their integration into professional software delivery.
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical standards, audit reports, and design documents intended for a broad engineering audience.
• Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, to prioritize across a large set of possible improvements, and to deliver measurable outcomes.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related STEM discipline.
• Experience building and operating internal developer platforms that were voluntarily adopted by peer teams.
• Prior exposure to security, reliability, or compliance engineering, with an understanding of how those functions interact with developer tooling.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects in the developer tooling, build systems, or platform engineering space.
