Job summary

Cognite is shaping industrial digitalization and AI-powered data solutions. As a Data Scientist, you will join cross-functional teams to configure, deploy, and operationalize digital solutions across Oil & Gas, Energy, and Manufacturing sectors.

You will lead the design and implementation of ML models, apply GenAI techniques, and develop Cognite Data Fusion-based web applications, collaborating with engineers and project managers to deliver impactful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in a quantitative field (engineering, math, physics, etc).
• 6+ years of full-time data science experience, preferably in related industry.
• Proficient in Python and SQL, production experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable data solutions for customer use cases in Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, and Power & Utilities.
• Lead workshops with SMEs to understand problems and map to data.
• Perform data cleansing and exploratory data analysis.
• Design and deploy physical models / ML models in Python to hosting environment.
• Apply GenAI techniques to enhance data-driven decisions for customers.
• Develop web applications built on Cognite Data Fusion with AI agents.
• Collaborate with data engineers, project managers and solution architects on deliveries.
• Support customers and partners in using Cognite products.

The Impact you bring to Cognite

• Lead the design and development of scalable solutions for customer use cases from Oil and Gas, Manufacturing and Power & Utilities industries using Cognite's core capabilities. Take ownership of design and execution
• Lead intensive use case generation workshops with subject matter experts to understand the problem and how it maps to the data
• Perform data cleansing and exploratory data analysis
• Design and lead implementation of physical models / machine learning models in Python and deploy to our model hosting environment
• Apply GenAI techniques to enhance data-driven decision-making in customer use cases
• Develop web applications built on Cognite Data Fusion with the help of AI agents
• Utilize and contribute to solution templates and best practices within the Data Science team
• Collaborate with data engineers, project managers and solution architects on project deliveries to enable our customers to achieve the full potential of our industrial dataops platform
• Support customers and partners in conducting data science tasks with Cognite products

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in a quantitative field or mechanical - , systems - , electrical - or industrial engineering
• 6+ years of full-time work experience as a data scientist (preferably within related industry)
• Proficient experience with Python and SQL. Experience with Python in a production setting is a plus
• Experience with machine learning methods and techniques, statistics and/or optimization
• Experience with Git
• Experience working customer faced, with external customers
• Experience with managed cloud services such as GCP, Azure or AWS is a plus
• Enjoy working in cross-functional teams
• Able to deliver independently, coach and mentor others internally
• Enjoy challenges and dare to set ambitious goals that drive innovation

Preferred Experience

• Domain knowledge or a good understanding of the Oil and Gas industry Asset Performance Management - covering i.e. production optimization is a big plus. (As key CDF advisors, we want our Data Scientist to have a good understanding of our customer data, and assist them in understanding how CDF can help solve their problems related to i.e. production optimization)
