Job summary

Cognite is hiring a Solutions Architect to design and deliver complex end-to-end solutions that combine Cognite SaaS offerings with customers’ portfolios. You’ll work across discovery to implementation, aligning data viz, data transformation, and robust integrations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience as an application/data engineer/solution/enterprise architect or ML engineer.
• Degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on in python with software development best practices.
• Experience with enterprise integration and IT design.
• Data and analytics project experience; able to lead an implementation.
• Experience with public cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) and hosting concepts.
• Experience with operations, monitoring, logging, and reporting.
• DevOps mindset; experience with Git, CI/CD, deployment environments.
• Architectural skills in data modeling and big data/data warehousing.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end solution design across Cognite SaaS offerings for new and existing clients.
• Collaborate with sales, delivery, data scientists, and customers to map requirements.
• Choose appropriate data viz and transformation technologies (Power BI, Grafana, Databricks, Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Model and contextualize data in Cognite Data Fusion; design robust integrations.
• Define and ensure operational responsibility, CI/CD, logging, and security criteria.
• Shape the overall technical solution and data model to fit customer ecosystems.
• Advise customers and partners on Cognite Data Fusion capabilities.

How you’ll demonstrate Ownership

The Solutions Architect is responsible for the design of complex end to end solutions, merging our flagship products with the customer's portfolio, for both new and existing clients. You are a technical subject matter expert in all offerings across the professional and managed services catalog. From discovery through implementation, you will work closely with the sales team and the delivery teams, as well as our data scientists and customers to map out technical requirements and architect robust and familiar solutions. Through your work with our strategic customers, you will identify opportunities for new products and features, and work with our product managers and tech leads to continuously improve Cognite's SaaS offering.

The Impact you bring to Cognite

• As a Solutions Architect, you will be an expert in how we implement our Cognite SaaS offerings and applications.
• Your primary responsibility will be to work with project teams to map requirements for a quality implementation ensuring that:
• The right data visualization technology is used in the right way (E.g Power BI, Grafana, Plotly Dash)
• The right data transformation technology is used in the right way (E.g Databricks, Azure, GCP, AWS)
• The data is efficiently modeled and contextualized in Cognite Data Fusion (E.g graph and relational)
• Integrations are well thought out and robustImportant quality criteria for the solution are met (E.g. CI/CD, logging, security)
• Operational responsibility and support agreements for the delivered solution are clearly defined
• Design overall technical solution and ensure technical fit within the customer ecosystem and target architecture
• Design integration and data model using Cognite data connectors, SQL, Python/Java and Rest APIs
• Credible advisor to our customers and partners on Cognite Data Fusion

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years experience as an application/data engineer/solution/enterprise architect or Machine learning engineer
• Degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent demonstrated experience
• Hands-on in python as well as a good hands-on expertise with software development best practices.
• Have experience with enterprise integration, customer relationships or IT integration design
• Data and analytics project experience and able to confidently lead an implementation
• Experience with a public cloud, preferably AWS, GCP or Azure, including familiarity with network security concepts, identity providers and application hosting
• Experience with operations, including support and change control, as well as experience architecting centralized monitoring, logging and reporting
• Have a DevOps mindset, and experience with Git, CI/CD, deployment environments
• Have architectural skills dealing with data modeling and infrastructure solutions, such as classical data warehousing and big data architectures

Preferred Experience

• Experience from the heavy asset industry (Oil & Gas, Manufacturing or Pharmaceuticals) is required
• Experience with operational data and customer business drivers in the heavy asset industry
• Consulting experience that allows you to confidently negotiate requirements with customers and colleague
