Job summary

Duolingo is seeking an Android engineer for the Application Stability and Performance team to own the stability and performance of the Android Learning app used by millions of learners worldwide.

You will lead architectural initiatives, evolve performance tooling, and serve as a bridge between teams to ensure reliable, fast experiences across devices. A strong background in Kotlin, coroutines, and modern architecture is required.

Qualifications

• Shipped large scale Android applications.
• Strong Kotlin skills and familiarity with coroutines, Jetpack Compose, and modern architecture patterns.
• Experience identifying root causes of ANRs, memory leaks, dropped frames, and complex crashes.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural initiatives to fix slow parts of the app from startup to learning flows.
• Own and evolve performance tooling with tracing, benchmarking, and automated regression detection.
• Bridge Client Platform and Product feature teams, helping them act on performance data.
