Job summary

KONGSBERG is expanding its Discovery division in Trondheim, developing resilient maritime navigation and positioning technologies. You will build real-time sensor fusion, inertial navigation, radar positioning, and terrain-referenced navigation, from concepts to field trials.

You will contribute to DP and autonomous vessel operations, with a focus on high-accuracy positioning when GNSS is unavailable or interfered with.

Qualifications

Higher education in cybernetics, computer science, or relevant technical field.
Foundation in estimation, signal processing, control systems, robotics, localization or sensor fusion.
Experience from research, product development, software development or algorithm development.
Programming experience in Python, C++ or similar languages.

Responsibilities

Develop concepts and real-time sensor fusion systems for navigation and DP reference frameworks.
Prototype and test solutions using simulations, vessel data and field trials.
Investigate how radar, passive RF sensing, and terrain models can support vessel positioning.
Develop positioning concepts that remain robust when GNSS is unavailable or degraded.
Assess performance and improve robustness under realistic operating conditions.
