Kongsberg Discovery is expanding capabilities in resilient maritime navigation. You will help develop positioning systems that remain accurate when GNSS is unavailable, leveraging sensor fusion, inertial navigation, radar positioning and terrain models.

The role covers the full development cycle from algorithms to field trials and integration into DP and autonomous operations. You will work near Trondheim at Seatex, contributing to advanced ocean technologies and protection of maritime assets,

Competenze

• Higher education in cybernetics, computer science or relevant technical field.
• Good foundation in estimation, signal processing, control systems, robotics, localization or sensor fusion.
• Experience in research, product or software/algorithm development in a technical field.
• Experience with navigation, GNSS, inertial systems, radar, RF sensing, perception or SLAM beneficial.
• Programming in Python, C++ or similar; embedded systems, real-time systems, simulations or robotics frameworks advantageous.
• Experience in maritime operations, DP or autonomous systems is a plus.

Mansioni

• Develop concepts for reliable positioning when GNSS is unavailable or interfered.
• Investigate maritime radar, passive RF sensing, and terrain models for vessel positioning and DP references.
• Develop real-time sensor fusion systems using inertial navigation and other data.
• Prototype and test solutions using simulations, vessel data, and field trials.
• Assess performance and improve robustness under realistic conditions.
