Skretting Aquaculture Innovation in Stavanger seeks a Researcher in Salmonid Nutrition for a two-year temporary role. You will contribute to nutrition studies on Atlantic salmon and related species to improve growth, health and welfare.

The role requires a PhD in fish nutrition (or MSc with 3+ years), strong experimental design and statistics, and excellent English communication. You will collaborate globally within Nutreco and its partners.

Qualifications

• PhD in fish nutrition or related field (or MSc with 3+ years experience).
• Experience in fish research or commercial fish farming is advantageous.
• Experience with laboratory work, diagnostics and field sampling.
• Strong experimental design and statistical analysis of trials.
• Excellent English communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, execute and interpret salmonid nutrition studies.
• Develop nutritional solutions to optimize feeds and fish health.
• Provide technical support on fish nutrition and feed formulation.
• Manage collaborative research projects with universities and partners.
• Communicate findings and support implementation across the business.

We are looking for a passionate and driven Researcher in Salmonid Nutrition to join our Salmonid Nutrition team in Stavanger on a temporary basis (2 years). In this role, you will contribute to the next generation of nutritional solutions for salmonids, helping to improve fish performance, health, welfare, and sustainability across the global aquaculture industry. What you'll do

• Planning, coordination, execution and interpretation of research studies related to nutrition of the salmonid species; mainly Atlantic salmon, but also and coho.
• Developing innovative nutritional solutions aimed at optimizing feed formulations, improving growth performance, and enhancing fish health and welfare.
• Providing technical expertise and support to Skretting operating companies worldwide on fish nutrition and feed formulation topics.
• Managing collaborative research projects with universities, research institutes, suppliers, and national and international funding organizations.
• Communicating research findings and supporting the implementation of innovations across the business.
• Contributing to the development of new ingredients, products, technologies, and concepts that drive sustainable aquaculture forward.

Who you are

• PhD or equivalent in fish or animal nutrition or fish health biology/veterinary science (or MSc with minimum 3 years relevant experience)
• Background in fish research or commercial farming of fish is an advantage
• Experience with laboratory work, diagnostics and field sampling will be valued
• Strong competence in experimental design and statistical analysis of fish, shrimp, or animal trials.
• An established scientific network, which is considered an advantage.
• An innovative mindset, including a hands‑on and target oriented mentality.
• Independent and flexible, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across cultures and backgrounds.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of proficiency in English.
