Job Description:

The position as researcher is a temporary two-year position, with an ultimate goal to qualify for senior academic positions.

The researcher will work in an exciting inter-disciplinary Horizon Europe project. The project aims to research socio-economic policies and paradigms (e.g., circular economy) that could complement or present alternatives to the current policy landscape and economic paradigm in Europe. One of the key aims of the project is to understand the impact of potential policy changes on the economy, and on social and environmental sustainability, as well as public acceptance of the policy changes that would be required. The postdoc’s work will focus in large part on policy acceptance and on perceived social, environmental, and economic policy impacts, drawing on perspectives from environmental and social psychology, behavioral economics and other social sciences and using empirical methods such as experiments and online surveys (with a plan to collect data from 10,000+ participants).

Your immediate leader will be the Head of the Department of Psychology.

Duties of the position

  • Study design and implementation
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Writing of academic papers and other research outputs (e.g., technical reports)
  • Conference and workshop presentations
  • Help organizing workshops
  • Help in further funding acquisition
  • Support of other parts of the international project team in their activities

Required selection criteria

  • You must have completed a Norwegian doctoral degree or corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian PhD in social psychology, environmental psychology, behavioral economics, or a very closely related discipline.
  • Documented expertise in environmental psychology, social psychology, behavioral economics or a closely related social science.
  • Documented methodological competence and strong background in quantitative statistical methods.
  • Good publication record.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Preferred selection criteria

  • Familiarity with concepts and methods used in environmental psychology.
  • Familiarity with concepts and methods used in social psychology or behavioral economics.
  • Expertise in discrete choice modeling and the design of discrete choice experiments will be regarded as an advantage.
  • Experience with analysis of large cross-national datasets will be regarded as an advantage.

Salary and conditions

As a researcher (code 1109) you are normally paid from gross NOK 594 500 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
