UiT The Arctic University of Norway invites applications for a PhD fellowship in the Earth Observation Group within the Department of Physics and Technology. The position is four years, with three years research and one year teaching duties, based in Tromsø.

We aim to study Rain-on-snow events using multisensor satellite data and altimetry to characterize ROS impacts on snow and sea ice and to improve melt onset detection. Admission to the PhD program is required for employment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Fluency in English and ability to work in an international environment.
• Experience with satellite remote sensing systems (preferably SAR).
• Strong programming skills (Python or MATLAB).
• Strong background in statistics.
