Job summary

NOV is seeking a Service Engineer specialized in Mechanical & Hydraulic to install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain drilling equipment on offshore rigs and shipyards worldwide.

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical installation and hydraulic know-how, are willing to travel extensively, and hold offshore medical certification. The role offers comprehensive training, mentoring, and international exposure with NOV Aftermarket.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in mechanical installation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, mechanical installation, FATs, commissioning, repair, upgrades, modifications, troubleshooting, and maintenance of NOV drilling equipment.
• Support customers on offshore drilling rigs, land rigs, shipyards, and workshop facilities worldwide.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and drilling technology equipment.
• Carry out hydraulic installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Liaise with rig management and communicate with supervisors before and after service assignments.
• Complete service reports, procedures, checklists, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
• Work closely with engineering and support departments to ensure safe operation, testing, and efficient problem resolution.
• Report field issues and provide technical feedback to relevant departments to support continuous product improvement.
• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of new and existing NOV products.
• Comply with all NOV and customer HSE policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

Service Stavanger is part of NOV Aftermarket and provides highly qualified field service personnel worldwide to support a broad range of drilling equipment.

Our Field Service Engineers represent NOV at customer sites, delivering installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, upgrades, repairs, and maintenance of industry-leading drilling equipment. We are committed to providing outstanding technical support while ensuring safe operations and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who:

• Have solid experience and knowledge of mechanical installation and maintenance.
• Have experience troubleshooting drilling technology equipment.
• Possess a strong understanding of hydraulic systems, components, and circuits.
• Hold a trade certificate, technical diploma, engineering degree, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Have experience with commissioning and/or startup of drilling equipment, preferably.
• Are able to work independently, systematically, and efficiently.
• Are willing and able to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, onshore and offshore.
• Are eligible to obtain, or already hold, a valid offshore medical certificate.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Norwegian and English.
• Have a clean background suitable for offshore and customer security requirements.
