Do you want to secure the quality of our propulsion systems used in space applications?

At Nammo Raufoss AS, within the Quality Assurance department of our Aerospace Propulsion (AP) business unit, we are a team of around 30 dedicated Quality Assurance Engineers. We play a vital role in ensuring quality in projects that cover both development and production of advanced propulsion systems for the military and space sector.

We are seeking a PA/QA Engineer with experience in the space sector to support projects involving mechanical and propulsion subsystems for spaceflight hardware. The candidate will be responsible for Product and Quality Assurance activities across the entire development lifecycle – from design and procurement to integration, testing, and delivery – ensuring compliance with ECSS standards and customer requirements from ESA, primes, and other institutional/commercial space customers.

Key experience/competence areas:

  • Proven experience with space-qualified mechanical and propulsion subsystems.
  • Strong knowledge of ECSS standards and European space customer expectations.
  • Familiarity with PA/QA planning, MIPs/PIDs, NCR/RFD/RFW handling, risk assessments, etc.
  • Understanding of space-grade materials, processes, and qualification/testing regimes.
  • Confident working with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customer representatives.
  • Experience with milestone reviews (e.g., MRR, TRR, FAI), documentation, and configuration control.
  • Ideally, experience with supplier QA, cleanroom protocols, and root cause analysis using tools such as Ishikawa, 5 why and 8D.

Candidate profile:

  • Engineering degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of PA/QA experience in the space or high-reliability sector.
  • Familiarity with ESA projects, ECSS documentation, and applicable quality frameworks.
  • Knowledge of U.S. space standards (e.g., NASA, MIL, or customer-specific) is beneficial, particularly for bridging European and U.S. requirements in international programs.
  • Structured, detail-oriented, and proactive in cross-functional project environments.
