A leading research hospital is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate autophagy termination regulation in live animals through an innovative project focused on cancer biology. The position will foster a collaborative environment aimed at addressing key biological questions using fruit fly models. Successful candidates will possess a PhD in relevant disciplines and demonstrate strong research capabilities, particularly in autophagy and Drosophila genetics.
A post-doc position is available in the Dr. Knævelsrud project group at the Department of Microbiology, Division for Laboratory Medicine from September 1, 2025 for 1 year with the possibility of extension for 1 more year.
The organization and research focus:
The Department of Microbiology is located at Gaustad/Rikshospitalet, which is part of Oslo University Hospital, the largest academic hospital in Scandinavia.
One of the main research aims of the project group “Autophagy regulation in development and disease” is to better understand the biology of cancer, including the regulation of autophagy. The successful candidate will work with fruit fly models to understand how autophagy termination is orchestrated between different organs and tissues in a multicellular organism.
The location:
The project will be carried out at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences/Domus Medica.
