UtilityCloud is seeking a Platform Engineer to own and improve how the platform is built, deployed and operated. You will work with Terraform/Terragrunt, AKS, Helm, and AI infrastructure in Azure to streamline deployments for developers.

Qualifications

• Production Kubernetes experience and ability to debug deployments
• Strong Azure AKS, networking and identity knowledge
• Infrastructure as code using Terraform (Terragrunt an advantage) and Helm
• Experience building/operating CI/CD at scale (Azure Pipelines or GitHub Actions)
• Experience deploying and scaling PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch
• Fluent in English; autonomous, practical collaborator

Responsibilities

• Modernize Azure DevOps build and release pipelines
• Provide developers with a documented path from merge to production
• Own and extend Terraform/Terragrunt estate and AKS clusters
• Onboard customers with minimal infra changes and scalable configurations
• Deploy and manage AI infrastructure components on Azure Foundry and Postgres pgvector
• Improve observability, backup, restore and disaster-recovery processes
• Document architectures to facilitate future maintenance

You’ll be a key resource to configure; maintain and update the infrastructure and services we use to run our software in Microsoft Azure. You’ll work closely with our developers to build the future of the automated and AI-driven software stack for energy retailers.

The Role

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to own and improve how UtilityCloud is built, deployed and operated.

Our infrastructure layer is Terraform with Terragrunt, reusable modules, containerized services on AKS, Helm charts per domain. As a Platform Engineer you will own this infrastructure and help us set up a state-of-the-art delivery layer ensuring there is a streamlined process for our developers to deploy new code and services.

Your job will be to get the deployment estate into code, put change control in front of production, and reduce the number of ways a service can reach a cluster and help up set up state of the art AI infrastructure in Microsoft Azure.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery and change control

• Modernize our Azure DevOps build and release pipelines.
• Give developers a single, documented path from merge to production

Infrastructure and Kubernetes

• Own and extend our Terraform/Terragrunt estate
• Run and improve our AKS clusters
• Maintain and modernize our build agents
• Move tenant-specific infrastructure toward configuration, so onboarding a customer is not an infrastructure change

Data stores and AI infrastructure

• Deploy, monitor and scale the data technologies our services run on — MongoDB, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Redis and time-series stores
• Build the platform layer for our AI features: Azure OpenAI in Microsoft Foundry, vector search on Postgres with pgvector, and the networking and identity work that keeps all of it inside our EU/EEA data-residency commitments
• Make capacity, quota and cost of the AI stack visible and predictable

Reliability, security and enablement

• Improve observability — metrics, logs, alerting — so we detect problems before customers do
• Own backup, restore and disaster-recovery routines, and prove they work by testing them
• Manage secrets, identities and access: Entra ID, Key Vault, service connections and federated credentials
• Document what you build, so the next person doesn't have to reverse-engineer it

WhatWe Are Looking For

• Experience in managing and running Kubernetes clusters in production — you can debug a failing deployment, not just apply a manifest
• Experience in Microsoft Azure — AKS, networking, identity, App Service or Functions
• Infrastructure as code: Terraform (Terragrunt an advantage) and Helm
• Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines at scale — Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions or similar
• Deploying, monitoring and scaling database technologies like Postgres, Mongo, Elasticsearch, and similar
• A pragmatic person with the focus on helping others and building
• High degree of autonomy and ability to thrive with minimal oversight and supervision
• Team player
