Job summary

Falkor is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate a modern cloud-native platform that supports data-intensive and AI-enabled services in production. You will work with product, data, and software teams to ensure reliability, security, and scalability.

You will own platform infrastructure, Kubernetes operations, and CI/CD automation, contributing to continuous improvement and strong documentation. Hybrid work model with office presence in Fornebu.

Qualifications

• Strong experience operating cloud-native platforms in production.
• Solid hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and Azure.
• Strong software development experience with at least one modern programming language (Python, Go, Java, C#, TypeScript, etc.).
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining production software systems.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling.
• Good understanding of platform operations, automation, and observability.
• Ability to write maintainable automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar).
• Fluency in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate cloud-native infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and other cloud platforms.
• Provision and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi, Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
• Operate and optimise Kubernetes platforms (AKS) in production.
• Own platform reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
• Share responsibility for platform stability and operational health, contributing to prevention, analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain clear, practical technical documentation and operational runbooks.
• Apply security-by-design principles at platform level, including IAM, RBAC, network policies, and workload isolation.
• Design, develop, and maintain production-quality internal platforms, tools, and services.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join the Infrastructure team within our Platform product area. You will play a key role in designing, building, and operating a modern, cloud-native, AI-ready platform that supports data-intensive and AI-enabled services in production.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role with high autonomy and ownership. You will work closely with product, data, and software engineering teams to ensure the platform is reliable, scalable, secure, and easy to operate over time. The role is intended for engineers who are motivated by long-term platform evolution and have a strong background in software development to build internal platforms, tools, and services that improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.

You will help design and build the systems, services, and developer platforms that form the foundation of our technology ecosystem and enable future AI-driven innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Infrastructure

• Design, build, and operate cloud-native infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and other cloud platforms
• Provision and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi, Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates)
• Operate and optimise Kubernetes platforms (AKS) in production
• Own platform reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency
• Share responsibility for platform stability and operational health, contributing to prevention, analysis, and continuous improvement
• Maintain clear, practical technical documentation and operational runbooks
• Apply security-by-design principles at platform level, including IAM, RBAC, network policies, and workload isolation

Software Engineering

• Design, develop, and maintain production-quality internal platforms, tools, and services that improve developer productivity and operational efficiency
• Write clean, maintainable code in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Go, Java, C#, or TypeScript
• Work closely with data and application teams to translate workload needs into robust platform solutions
• Contribute to building scalable, well-tested systems that other teams can rely on

Kubernetes and Container Platforms

• Manage container orchestration using Kubernetes, including deployment, scaling, and network configuration
• Package and deploy workloads using Helm
• Troubleshoot platform-level issues related to containers and orchestration
• Support data-intensive platform components and stateful services at infrastructure level

Monitoring, Observability and Operations

• Implement and maintain monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Mimir, Grafana, Tempo, or similar tools
• Build and evolve logging and telemetry pipelines to improve operational insight
• Reduce operational noise and improve system understanding through telemetry-driven analysis

CI/CD and Automation

• Integrate platform capabilities with CI/CD and GitOps workflows
• Use tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Argo CD, or Flux
• Promote automation-first approaches across platform operations

Required Experience and Skills

• Strong experience operating cloud-native platforms in production
• Solid hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and Azure
• Strong software development experience with at least one modern programming language (Python, Go, Java, C#, TypeScript, etc.)
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining production software systems
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling
• Good understanding of platform operations, automation, and observability
• Ability to write maintainable automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar)
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset
• Fluency in English, written and spoken

Desirable Experience

• Experience supporting AI or ML workloads in production
• Exposure to GitOps, service mesh (e.g. Istio), or hybrid infrastructure

Work model: Hybrid (minimum 3 days per week in the office at Fornebu)
