Job summary

The University of Agder (UiA) invites applications for a 100% PhD Research Fellow position in Electrical Engineering at Campus Grimstad, within the Energy Systems Group and the national SOLAR centre. The appointment spans three years with a negotiable start date and admission to UiA’s PhD programme.

The project focuses on power quality monitoring, EMT-based simulations, and grid hosting capacity with high PV penetration.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  • Experience with scientific programming and data analysis, preferably MATLAB or Python.
  • Good written and spoken English; English proficiency documented if NOKUT requirements apply.

Responsibilities

  • Develop digital twins for pilot distribution and transmission grids with high PV integration.
  • Create an event-based power quality assessment framework with EMT simulations.
  • Evaluate grid control strategies to increase PV hosting capacity and optimize losses.
  • Validate research through hardware‑in‑the‑loop lab experiments within the SOLAR consortium.
