There is a temporary PhD position for 3 years at the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management, Section of Managerial Economics, Finance, and Operations Research, located at NTNU's campus in Trondheim. This position is part of the PhD program at the Faculty of Economics and Management.
The PhD is linked to the Research Centre for Carbon Capture and Storage, gigaCCS, focusing on Mission Area 4: CCS value chains. More about the centre is available at www.gigaccs.no.
Work Package DetailsThe position will contribute to WP 4.1, focusing on policy, governance, and regulations to facilitate CCS deployment, including identifying suitable policies, governance strategies for large-scale infrastructure, and regulatory regimes for CO₂ storage and cross-border transport.
The project aims to develop methodologies for investment decision-making under uncertainty in the CCS value chain, analyze policy impacts, and propose risk-sharing mechanisms among stakeholders. The work will produce 3-4 scholarly articles as part of WP 4.1, supervised by Professor Verena Hagspiel-Janssen and co-supervised by Dr. Simon Roussanaly.
Additional advantageous qualifications include relevant background or experience in the project topics, real options analysis, decision-making under uncertainty, CCS sector experience, and research publications.

The gross annual salary is approximately NOK 550,800, with a 2% pension contribution. The appointment is for 3 years, conditional on admission to NTNU's PhD program. The position is funded externally.
