Job summary

NTNU, a leading Norwegian university, seeks a PhD Candidate in the Software Engineering group within the Department of Computer Science. The role focuses on empirical software engineering, studying continuous software development and AI-augmented lifecycles.

You will publish your findings with industry collaboration and contribute to teaching activities. The appointment follows NTNU guidelines for doctoral recruitment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science with a major independent project (≥30 ECTS) equivalent to a master’s thesis.
• Strong academic background and an average grade of B or better on NTNU’s scale.
• Proficiency in English for professional use, written and oral.
• Attach a project outline (1500 words) describing theoretical and methodological approach.

Responsibilities

• Develop research-based knowledge on continuous software development, grounded in empirical studies.
• Carry out empirical studies in Norwegian software companies with aim to publish in journals/conferences.
• Conduct your own studies and participate in project teams with master’s students.
• Contribute to teaching activities, including lab sessions and supervision.
• Engage in smaller related research projects or collaborations as agreed with the department.
