NTNU, Department of ICT and Natural Sciences in Ålesund, invites applications for a PhD Candidate position focusing on cybersecurity challenges in maritime AI. The project crosses information security, AI, maritime operations and data engineering with industry collaboration.

The PhD is part of the Norwegian Maritime AI Center, funded for 2026–2030, with about 25 doctoral scholarships. Salary is NOK 580 000 per year with a 2% pension deduction.

Formación

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with five-year Norwegian course (120 credits) or equivalent.
• Strong academic background with average grade equal to B or better on NTNU scale, or documented comparable quality.
• Eligible for admission to the faculty’s Doctoral Programme.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Eligible for security clearance at CONFIDENTIAL level or higher.

Responsabilidades

• Complete the doctoral education until obtaining a doctorate.
• Carry out research of good quality within the framework described above.
• Academic publications and dissemination of results.
• Participate in the Cyber-Physical Systems Laboratory (CPS Lab).
• Engage with the maritime AI center and international activities.
