Job summary

Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU) invites applications for a PhD Candidate position within the Arctic Ocean 2050 project. The successful candidate will contribute to risk-informed data fusion and data assimilation while pursuing doctoral education in collaboration with DNV and Nansen Center.

The role emphasizes cross-disciplinary research, publications, and participation in international activities, with a strong focus on environmental data, AI analytics, applied mathematics

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in marine technology, remote sensing, physics or applied mathematics, and data science; degree must be documented before starting the position.
  • Strong academic record with an average grade from Master’s studies equal to B or better on NTNU’s grading scale, or an equally good foundation if letter grades are unavailable.
  • Admission to the faculty's Doctoral Programme is required.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the doctoral education and obtain a doctorate.
  • Carry out high-quality research within the Arctic Ocean 2050 framework.
  • Publish academic work and disseminate results.
  • Participate in the Arctic Hive Mind and Risk, Safety and Asset Management groups.
  • Engage in international activities such as conferences and research stays at foreign institutions.
  • Engage in career-promoting networking and related activities.
