Job Purpose and Objective:
- Overseeing all electrical and automation systems and components during the construction and delivery of the project vessels.
- Ensuring compliance with owner, yard agreed, classification and industry requirements & standards.
- Complete inspections, commissioning and testing related systems & equipment, documenting, reporting and highlighting any existing or foreseeable issues to builder and company.
Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities:
- Familiarize yourself thoroughly QHSE requirements of shipyard, (Enclosed space entry, working at height …)
- Familiarize yourself with company agreed building specification, standards and requirements.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of automation & electrical systems.
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
- Review specifications, drawings, and procedures, providing input on best practices, potential shortcomings, and areas for improvement to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Liaised with Project Superintendent & New Build Manager on any matters of the new build program. Addressing any non-conformities and technical issues during construction.
- Verify equipment and material standards are as per required standards.
- Highlight any defects to New Build Manager / Project Superintendent and yard QC, in writing.
- Prepare inspection reports, monitoring and reporting back on progress.
- Ensure documentation and reports are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with New Build Manager, Project Superintendent and yard, in order to resolve quality issues, reporting back on required corrective actions.
- Provide input and support to the New Build Manager in preparing company documentation related to automation and electrical infrastructure across various projects, and assist in the development and standardization of company procedures and technical standards.
Qualifications:
- 10 years’ sea-going experience; as ETO (Electro-Technical Officer) and or New Build
- Electrical Superintendent.
- Certificate of Competency ETO
- High Voltage Certification
- DP System Maintenance
- Experience with propulsion systems (especially diesel-electric and or hybrid systems)
- Experience with DP & Integration of automation and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
Soft Skills
- Good communication skills for coordination with multinational teams.
- Effective leadership and team supervision.
- Willingness to travel or relocate to shipyard site.
- Excellent reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Competent in quality software systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with ISO, ASME, API, ABS, DNV, or IACS standards
- Comfortable in confined spaces as required in order to complete inspections.
- Familiar with PPE and safety equipment related to enclosed spaces, working aloft and other required shipyard QHSE safety gear and PPE.
- Able to work unsupervised.
