Job summary

A leading communications provider in Stavanger is seeking a Network Engineer, Optical for a temporary role lasting two years. The candidate will contribute to an EU research project, develop fiber sensing technologies, and work with optical core network operations. A Ph.D. or Master's degree in a relevant field is required, along with experience in optical communication networks. The role offers an inclusive work environment focused on gender equality.

Qualifications

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TEMPORARY ROLE WITH A 2-YEAR DURATION.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute and participate in EU research project ICON related working tasks, e.g.
  • Contribute to development of fiber sensing using telecom network cables and AI.
  • Field-experiments planning, installation and performing experiment
  • Analysis, including machine learning techniques, of fibre-sensing data
  • Development of techniques and software for pattern recognition
  • Participate in ICON consortium meetings, contribute to reports and scientific papers
  • Operation, planning and development of optical core network (DWDM)
  • Presales tasks from the sales team
  • Design and delivery of customer solutions
  • Contribute to a positive work environment in the team/department
Qualifications
  • Education - The person has a Ph.D., Master of Science or similar within physics, informatics, electronic engineering, photonics, signal processing, telecommunication or similar.
  • Experience - The person may be a newly educated candidate or have work experience from working with optical communication networks, machine learning for signal analysis, and/or optical fiber sensing.
