Job summary

Nofence Grazing Technology is seeking a mobile app/fullstack developer to join the Pasture team in Norway. You will help build and maintain our world’s first virtual fencing solution for livestock, collaborating with product managers and UX/UI designers to translate user needs into elegant technical solutions.

Expect to work on API and web development, apply React/React Native, Python, Django, and AWS in a hybrid setup, and contribute to a product used by farmers across the globe.

Qualifications

Nofence is a Norwegian scale up that has built the world’s first virtual fencing solution for livestock. As we aim to revolutionize livestock management, we will need top-notch competence in our customer facing Pasture team, and we are now looking for a mobile app/fullstack developer. About the role

The main responsibilities for this role will be:

• Develop new features and maintain our mobile application
• API and web development
• Brainstorm and develop good solutions for our customers

Our tech stack

You don’t need to be an expert in our current tech stack, we expect you to pick that up pretty quickly. But you’re still probably curious about what you’ll get your hands dirty with:

• Our app is React Native
• Our main backend is Django
• We are app-first, but parts of the product have a React frontend for web
• Our databases are Postgres and ClickHouse
• We use Grafana, DataDog and Amplitude for observability
• We use GitHub for CI/CD
• All our infra is deployed in AWS
• We are generous with AI tokens, most of us use Claude Code

About you

The right candidate is preferred to have the following qualifications:

• Relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent. If you have enough relevant experience, a degree is not required.
• 2-5 years of experience with mobile development
• Experience with React or React Native
• Experience with Python, and not afraid to dive into the backend
• Has a sharp analytical mindset and enjoys solving problems
• Experience with IoT solutions is an advantage
• Experience with farming is a bonus
• Fluent English oral and written communication skills. Our working language is English.

• Is interested in working closely with product managers and UX/UI designers
• Likes to solve problems as a team
• Is a strong communicator, able to explain both technical and non-technical concepts to colleagues and customers, as well as translate customer feedback to technical solutions
• Is interested in learning from and understanding our customers to find good solutions
• Understands that the code and the app are tools; the real task is to solve problems and create opportunities for our users
• Is interested in working on software for a physical device used by more than 200,000 four legged users

We're a close-knit team based across Oslo, Molde, and Trondheim. We value working together, in the office, out in the field with farmers and livestock, or at team offsites. We have a hybrid work culture.

We care deeply about product development, animal welfare, farmer welfare, and sustainable agriculture. We genuinely believe our grazing technology is the biggest technological change in agriculture since the tractor!
The Pasture team is currently 7 people, working on identifying opportunities and solving problems to help farmers get the most out of their land and pastures. We are fully cross‑functional and operate on the full stack of our product: from the firmware that runs on the collars, the backend that processes the data, to the app that interfaces with the customers. This enables us to be fully autonomous and move fast to develop new features. You'll witness the immediate impact of your contributions in real‑time!
