Job description

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join as a consultant for Wärtsilä, a global leader in marine and energy solutions. This role focuses on exciting projects involving LNG, biogas, and regasification technologies in Norway.

  • Location: Asker, Norway
  • Other possible locations: Gdynia or Valencia
  • Contract Duration: 12 months with a high likelihood of renewal
  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Remote Work: Possible for senior candidates
What You’ll Do
  • Contribute to projects for gas plants on LNG and LPG carriers, both onshore and offshore
  • Develop system designs and prepare documentation
  • Select equipment, evaluate bids, and collaborate with suppliers
  • Ensure smooth information flow between engineering disciplines
  • Clarify technical details with customers, suppliers, and authorities
  • Join design reviews like HAZOP sessions and 3D model assessments
  • Support commissioning, start-up, and FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests)
What You Bring
  • BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in maritime, oil & gas, or process industry
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment like heat exchangers, pressure vessels, pumps, and compressors
  • Familiarity with classification rules (e.g., DNV, BV, LRS, ABS)
  • Strong communication skills in English, written and spoken
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • Team player with a proactive mindset
