Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a skilled mechanical product developer to design, prototype, test, and iterate components for next‑gen AutoStore Bins and related products.

You will create 3D models and drawings in Autodesk Inventor, contribute to design reviews, plan and execute tests, and ensure manufacturability for high‑volume production.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of mechanical product development including design, prototyping, testing, validation, and iterations.
• Education preferred but not required if practical experience is strong.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of next‑generation AutoStore Bins and improve existing Bin and Grid products.
• Create and modify 3D models, mechanical designs, drawings, and technical documentation using Autodesk Inventor.
• Participate in technical design reviews.
• Plan, execute, and evaluate product and system testing.
• Use test results to validate requirements, identify issues, and improve designs.
• Work with materials, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
• Support material evaluation and consistent product performance in high-volume production.
• Contribute throughout the full product lifecycle, from concepts to mass production.
• Support sustaining engineering and technical investigations on existing products.

Job description

• Support the development of next-generation AutoStore Bins and continuously improve existing Bin, Grid, and related products
• Create and modify 3D models, mechanical designs, drawings, and technical documentation using Autodesk Inventor
• Participate in technical design reviews
• Plan, execute, and evaluate product and system testing
• Use test results to validate requirements, identify issues, and improve designs
• Work with materials, specifications, and manufacturing requirements
• Support material evaluation and consistent product performance in high-volume production
• Contribute throughout the full product lifecycle, from early concepts and prototypes through validation and mass production
• Support sustaining engineering and technical investigations on existing products

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in mechanical product development, including design, prototyping, testing, validation, and design iterations
• Relevant technical education is preferred, but a university degree is not required if you have strong practical engineering experience
• Good understanding of materials and material properties, and how material selection and parameters influence product design, performance, and manufacturing
• Strong experience with 3D CAD and mechanical design, including drawings, specifications, requirements, tolerances, and engineering documentation
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor and PLM systems is an advantage
• Practical experience with prototyping and test setups, using test results and technical data to develop and verify solutions
• Experience with plastics or metal manufacturing is a strong advantage
• Experience with injection molding, tooling and DFM, sheet metal, or extruded aluminium is advantageous
