Job summary

Leap29 is seeking a Lead Process Engineer in Oslo to shape process design and operational integrity across upstream and midstream assets, within a multidisciplinary team.

You will lead PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, simulations (HYSYS/UniSim), and process safety studies while mentoring engineers and ensuring compliance with NORSOK and Norwegian regulations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Proven experience leading process engineering on large oil & gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of process safety and design standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and review of process deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances).
• Act as process discipline lead on projects, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Perform steady-state and dynamic simulations using HYSYS/UniSim or equivalent.
• Lead HAZOP/HAZID/SIL and safety studies with HSE teams.
• mentor graduate and senior engineers and provide technical guidance.

Job description

Leap29 is looking to appoint a Lead Process Engineer on a permanent basis. This is a senior technical role offering the opportunity to shape process design and operational integrity across complex upstream and midstream assets, working within a highly capable multidisciplinary engineering team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead the development and review of process engineering deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, process simulations, and cause & effect matrices
• Act as the process discipline lead on assigned projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including piping, instrumentation, structural, and safety engineering
• Perform and oversee steady-state and dynamic process simulations using industry-standard tools (HYSYS, UniSim, or equivalent)
• Lead HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and other process safety studies in collaboration with HSE teams
• Develop process design criteria, basis of design documents, and operating philosophies
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and senior process engineers
• Support front-end scoping, feasibility, and concept studies as required
• Interface with equipment vendors and review vendor technical documentation
• Ensure all process engineering work is delivered in compliance with Norwegian regulations, NORSOK standards, and client specifications
• Contribute to operational support, troubleshooting, and OPEX optimisation activities
• Review and approve process engineering documentation produced by the wider team
• Represent the process discipline in client meetings, design reviews, and technical workshops

Experience & Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline
• Minimum 10 years of process engineering experience in Oil & Gas
• Proven experience as lead or senior engineer on major projects
• Strong proficiency in process simulation software (HYSYS, UniSim)
• In-depth knowledge of NORSOK standards and Norwegian regulatory framework
• Demonstrable experience mentoring and developing engineers
