Assignment Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to support one of our major projects to manage mechanical engineering activities for offshore projects across the Pre-EPC, EPC, and EPCIC phases. This role is critical in ensuring mechanical systems and equipment are designed, procured, fabricated, installed, and commissioned to meet stringent offshore requirements. You will lead the discipline team, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and ensure technical, safety, and schedule integrity throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Lead and coordinate all offshore mechanical engineering activities during Pre-EPC, EPC, and EPCIC phases.
  • Define mechanical design philosophy, execution strategy, and discipline scope of work.
  • Ensure mechanical equipment and systems (pressure vessels, rotating/static equipment, cranes, lifting devices etc) comply with offshore standards and project requirements.
  • Develop specifications, datasheets, mechanical requisitions, and interface documents for offshore equipment and systems.
  • Interface with construction, installation, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless integration and readiness for offshore execution.
  • Review and approve vendor documentation and ensure follow-up on FATs, inspections, preservation, and certification.
  • Participate in risk assessments, HAZOP, HAZID, design reviews, model reviews, and constructability sessions.
  • Ensure mechanical design and installation are optimized for offshore safety, reliability, maintainability, and operability.
  • Manage technical deviations, change control (MOC), and technical queries.
  • Lead and mentor mechanical discipline engineers and ensure quality deliverables across all project milestones.
  • Offshore mechanical design documentation: specifications, datasheets, layout drawings, 3D model input, and discipline design basis.
  • Technical requisitions and bid evaluations for offshore mechanical equipment.
  • Vendor document reviews and discipline approval of offshore equipment and packages.
  • Mechanical interface and tie-in coordination with other offshore systems.
  • Installation support documentation, lifting and handling studies, and preservation plans.
  • Commissioning readiness input and final mechanical system handover documentation.
  • Discipline progress and risk reporting for Pre-EPC, EPC, and EPCIC stages.
  • MS Office, IFS/PIMS or similar

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Extensive relevant work experience can compensate for lack of formal education.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 5 years in offshore oil & gas or offshore energy projects.
  • Proven experience through Pre-EPC, EPC, and EPCIC phases, including offshore installation and commissioning.
  • Deep knowledge of offshore regulations and design standards (e.g., NORSOK, DNV, ASME, API, ISO).
  • Experience with rotating/static equipment, pressure systems, and offshore lifting systems.
  • Familiarity with 3D modelling tools (E3D, PDMS), analysis software (e.g., Caesar II), and document systems (e.g., IFS, SharePoint) is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills in cross-discipline and multicultural project teams. Offshore survival and safety training certifications preferred.
  • Personalized, hands-on support from our dedicated Omega 365 team members
  • Collaboration with one of Norway's most prestigious consultant firms
  • Guidance from experienced department managers, facilitating the development of your project expertise
  • Internal visa assistance and expert advice for EEA/expat consultants
  • Excellent opportunities to expand your professional network through project involvement and social gatherings
  • Exclusive benefits including access to holiday houses and cabins in picturesque locations such as Hovden, Hemsedal, Geilo, Hafjell, Oppdal, Voss, Vågsli, Sirdal, Gran Canaria, and Thailand
  • Diverse offerings of events including concerts and exciting excursion, both in Norway and abroad. We unveil attractive new trips exclusively for our employees every year.
