Job description

Looking for a Laboratory Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a newly established, high-tech laboratory. This is a pivotal role supporting a fast-moving hardware engineering team working on next-generation technology development.

You’ll bring both technical expertise and operational oversight to ensure the lab functions smoothly and safely. From setting up complex instruments to overseeing routine activities, you’ll help build the foundation for world-class hardware experimentation and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily lab operations, including equipment scheduling, inventory management, and maintenance
  • Support the setup and commissioning of technical infrastructure and scientific instrumentation
  • Assist engineers and scientists with lab activities, troubleshooting, and experiments
  • Establish and enforce lab procedures, safety protocols, and compliance standards
  • Manage lab procurement, vendor relationships, and budget tracking
  • Onboard and train new team members in lab procedures and equipment use
  • Monitor project progress, lab capacity, and risks, reporting to leadership as needed
  • Identify and integrate new tools or technologies to improve lab efficiency

Requirements:

  • Technically skilled and experienced with scientific instrumentation, particularly in high/ultrahigh vacuum or semiconductor environments
  • Comfortable in hands-on roles involving setup, maintenance, and experimentation
  • Strong at managing complex lab spaces with multiple active users and systems
  • Proactive, organized, and solutions-oriented, you take ownership and get things done
  • An effective communicator who collaborates easily across teams
  • Budget-aware and deadline-conscious, with strong prioritization skills
  • Committed to creating a safe, efficient, and productive lab environment for high-impact R&D
