Job summary

poLight is seeking a Systems / Electrical Engineer to join the engineering and R&D organisation in Tønsberg, Norway. You will design electronics and systems for imaging products, work on camera module development and hardware/software integration, and contribute across multidisciplinary teams with suppliers and customers.

You will relocate with visa support and become part of a vibrant imaging technology company focused on tunable-optics for AR/MR and consumer devices.

Qualifications

The Opportunity

poLight is looking for a Systems / Electrical Engineer to join its engineering and R&D organisation in Tønsberg.

This is a hands-on engineering position for someone who enjoys understanding how complex systems work as a whole — and then getting into the detail required to make them perform.

You will contribute to the development, integration and optimisation of products and systems across the poLight organisation, working closely with colleagues in electrical engineering, software, mechanical engineering, optics, R&D, manufacturing, suppliers and customers.

Your work could include:

System-level development of complex imaging products

Electrical engineering and hardware development

Camera module and imaging-system development

PCB and schematic design

Supporting rapid prototyping and product development

Hardware/software integration

Electrical testing, troubleshooting and optimisation

EMI/ESD considerations

Working with suppliers and subcontractors

Supporting products from R&D through to customer and mass-production activities

Technical documentation and engineering specifications

Working directly with multidisciplinary engineering teams and, where appropriate, customers

What We're Looking For

We're interested in engineers who have a strong technical foundation and a genuine interest in complex systems.

You are likely to have:

A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline

Experience designing or developing complex electronic or technical systems

Experience working at system level, rather than solely within a narrow engineering discipline

Practical experience with hardware development, PCB design and/or schematics

Experience with prototyping and product development

Experience working with suppliers, subcontractors or manufacturing partners

Strong analytical and experimental problem-solving skills

A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and troubleshooting

The ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary technical environment

Strong communication and documentation skills

Excellent English, both written and spoken

Experience with camera modules, imaging systems, mobile phones, handheld devices, projection displays or other consumer electronics would be particularly interesting.

Knowledge of high-voltage or low-power ASIC design would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Experience with patent writing and filing would also be a plus.
