Job summary

Nordic Semiconductor is seeking a Platform Engineer to help build and scale the nRF Cloud platform. You will own pieces of the platform end-to-end, design, build, ship, and monitor systems for millions of IoT devices in production.

You will work with Python, Kotlin, and/or TypeScript on AWS and Kubernetes, focusing on reliability, performance, and cost optimization, with strong emphasis on observability and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Ability to ship production code end-to-end and own features/services.
• Familiarity with AWS services including EKS, RDS, S3, EC2, ECS.
• Relational database experience, especially PostgreSQL, with schema design and query optimization.
• Backend proficiency in Python, Kotlin, or TypeScript.
• Experience with Kubernetes for deploying and scaling production workloads.
• Observability/monitoring tooling experience (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Sentry).
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Nice to have: IoT, developer tools, or embedded systems tooling; device telemetry pipelines or MQTT/CoAP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Own platform components end-to-end from design to production monitoring.
• Design, build, ship, and monitor systems handling data from millions of IoT devices.
• Instrument systems, run experiments, and validate with data for scaling, performance or cost issues.
• Ship production-quality code across the stack (Python, Kotlin, TypeScript, AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL/ClickHouse).
• Develop clear technical docs and RFCs; communicate tradeoffs to the team.
• Respond to incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and drive postmortems and follow-ups.
• Collaborate with Product, SDK & Field Engineering, and Support to turn customer needs into technical work.
